H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619
The Nagant is legal. I had one, but was not interested in using it in SASS. But then I saw that it was listed in the handbook as specifically being approved for use. That made me want to use it. But I was confused by the 7 shot cylinders, and the strange ammo that it uses. To make a long story short, I figured that since the gun was specifically declared to be okay, there must be an understood exception to the general rules that allow this 7 cylinder revolver, and its strange ammo with the bullet recessed into the case, both of which would not normally be allowed. Many moons ago, I asked this question here on the Wire, and, I believe it was by PaleWolf, a post was made that confirmed my assumptions. The Nagant is a specific exception to a couple of rules. Ramblin Gambler
They probably figure it's a quick and easy way to tell the troublemakers apart from the rest of us. Using a nagant? Yup, he's one of those we have to make special rules for.

Yup, he's one of those we have to make special rules for. The "legalization" of the Nagant brought up a few more inquiries regarding European martial revolvers of the period. The Belgians, French, and Swiss (among others) had their own versions in both DA and SA configuration...including a number of pin-fire variations (e.g. LeFacheux)

Rye Miles #13621
Per SHB, page 9. it says no less than five and no more than six chambers REVOLVER CYLINDERS • Centerfire and rimfire cylinders may have no less than five and no more than six chambers. • The front of the cylinder may be beveled. • Unfluted cylinders may be fluted. • Lead in grooves may be cut or extended. • The revolver may be altered to allow the cylinder to spin in either direction. • Cylinders may be rebored, lined, or sleeved to any of the approved revolver calibers provided industry safe limits are maintained. • Cylinders must be made of steel or iron only. Question: main match pistol in question has more than six chambers. Is there an acceptable way to TEMPORARY plug/disable the 6th/7th/8th/whatever chamber to satisfy SASS rules? Thanks, The very first sentence in your OP answers your question! NO
