Wanted 5 or 6 25-20 SS cartridges for display

I have a pard that I work with that inherited a real nice 1885 Winchester Single shot. I would like to get 5 or 6 cartridges for him. They are only for display so dummies would be fine.

The cartridge needed, is it 25-20 (25 W.C.F.) or the longer 25 Single Shot? The .25 Single Shot is a bit longer and hard to find...

It would not be unusual to find an 1885 Low Wall chambered for the 25-20 SS cartridge as that cartridge was introduced around 1882. It was also chambered in other rifles like the Stevens & the Maynard. The shorter, stubbier 25-20 WCF did not come out until 1894-95. Winchester developed the 25-20 WCF as a necked down 32-20 for the 1892 lever action repeater.

I have an 1885 Low Wall in 25-20 SS & know of two others in my area of SW Minnesota. Mine was manufactured in 1893.

Brass can be found in the Buffalo Arms catalogue. http://www.buffaloarms.com/Reloading_Brass_Cases_pr-3834.aspx?CAT=3834 The Captech (Jamison) brass can be purchased as single cartridges but is currently on back order. Bertram brass is in stock, but only in lots of 20.

Handy:

Let me look at what I have.

I may be able to make you up a few 25-20 dummies.

Howdy,

I might be useful as a rubber cane, but I will be doing some cleaning

and might find some 25-20 old rounds.

It just seems like there were a few in the bottom of a box.

If Dawg takes care of you all good.

These might be another caliber.....

too early, needs coffee.....

Best

Handy:

I looked all over the gun room and was unable to locate my 25-20 stuff.

Maybe it's there, and I didn't see it.

I will continue to look this week, but I wanted to give you an update.

Sorry
