Deuce,

I'm as much a Marlin feller as anyone but I've told friends for years that I love those trapper size 73's.

I particularly love those Texas Brush Poppers.

I've got a couple 16.5" Marlins, one factory, one custom octagonal. Both in .45.

But those 73's are beautiful and special.

That IS a beautiful rifle ya got.

See ya in GA!

I found a good buy on a .38 Special '66 when I was looking for a rifle for my wife (the Lovely Jirafa Velocidad  ) but it was a 20" short rifle and it was heavy. I talked to Ottway Smith about shortening the tube; he cut it down to about seventeen inches; I shortened the stock as well. It is very handy now; I'm betting a '73 of that length would handle great. I'm almost tempted to shorten the tube on my rifle but I don't want to be a copycat.
