Cat Brules
As I was going through some of my gear, I checked out my supply of stripper clips and stripper clip magazine guides. It occurs to me that I haven't seen these mentioned here along with the warnings that now's the time to buy magazines. I suppose most people realize that these clips and guides are pretty much a necessity if you have a generous supply of .223 ammo and M16/AR-15 magazines. Some folks don't give them a thought until they need them. These items are a throw-away consumable for the military, but probably not for the average civilian. Anyway, before they become a target of the Socialist crazies and start disappearing, it might not hurt to get hold of a few military surplus stripper clip guides and a couple dozen or more 10-round stripper clips. You can load up the clips and keep all but one of your magazines empty. Cat Brules
T. H. O' Sullivan
Over the past four years I've been building up my supply of ammo for my firearms. For the 5.56mm/.223 I have been buying sealed cases of Lake City M855 which include stripper clips and a guide in each case of 420 rounds. These cases still have the Lake City/US government seal and I'll leave them that way for long term storage. Just in that caliber I've around 5000 rounds. Total ammo for all rifles I guess around 12000 rounds, kept in a cool dry place. Since I'm 70 miles from town, I just can't run down to the local gun shop for bullets. For my everday shooting, I load up with Blue Box Black Hills .223 which I carry in a Colt 6920 Law Enforcement Carbine. Nice little rifle for the truck or horseback. You could proably say we're "Preppers" out here on the ranch, but that has always been the case. We "Prep" for periodic power outages, bad snow storms, satellite internet failure, illness, etc. I just put in a 10,000 gallon diesel tank underground for our vehicles, and 25% of my power comes from solar panels. The Original Lumpy Gritz
With 3 sons as vets. I have a 5 gal bucket filled with them. They don't last for more than 2 or 3 uses as the little brass 'ear' that holds the rounds in place breaks off. LG
Utah Bob #35998
Not real fond of the clips for 30 round mags. I like clips for the Mosin and Enfield though.
