Deacon Stone Sass#58681
I have a brand new pair of 51 navys and I would like to have the front sight change out from bead to blade. Would like to have the dovetail cut and a new baled sight installed. Who can I send these to to get it done? Thanks Deacon Stone
Tame Bill #30699 Life
Deacon, Fred Lipowitz in North Kansas City, Snap Shots Gun Shop, did the dovetail/blade installation on all 6 of my '51s and fit the arbors too (816) 221-9117. Adirondack Jack, SASS #53440
FWIW about any REAL gunsmith or local machine shop can cut a dovetail. If ya choose to send it out, the good news is the octagon barrel means they don't need the whole gun to work with. You can send just the barrel in the MAIL and save a fortune in shipping. Harvey Mushman
Don't know if you've already done this, but perhaps you should shoot some practice or a couple monthlies with them before you spend the money. I PREFER the brass posts by far for SASS targets. Much quicker front sight acquistion for me than most blades - but that's just me - YMMV. I put .175" shotgun beads on mine. I can pick out that big yellow pumpkin much better than a black blade.
Tame Bill #30699 Life
Deacon, +1 on the brass front sight. Fred has installed brass blade sights on my navies. Tame Bill
