Charlie MacNeil, SASS #48580 Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I got the Lee Marvin version of Monte Walsh for Christmas, and finally got time to watch it last night. I like it a lot, but I also like the Tom Selleck version... Neither one is very close to the book, which I've read about a dozen times, but they're still good movies...
Prairie Dawg, SASS #50329 Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Yup, both are good. Saw it was out in DVD & ordered me a copy. But then I like both versions of 3:10 to Yuma and both versions of True Grit too. --Dawg --Dawg
Grizzly Dave Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I got it for Christmas as well, but didn't take nearly as long to get around to watching it. I have to agree, I like them both.
Noz Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I love the Lee Marvin version. The horse ride and the destroyed shirt that shows up as a wild rag later.
Josey Kidd Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 as much as I liked the Selleck version, I loved the "Cooks revenge" scene in the Lee Marvin version ! they were both great movies
Tarheel Rifleman, SASS # 23477 Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I got it for Christmas as well, but didn't take nearly as long to get around to watching it. I have to agree, I like them both. Me too!
