Subdeacon Joe Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 A page in time. Note that neither the Bay Bridge, nor the Golden Gate Bridge were completed yet. Also note that Treasure Island hasn't been built yet. In this photo, the towers had been built but the cables had not yet been spun when the Pacific Fleet steamed through the Golden Gate Straight on May 3, 1935. Abilene Slim SASS 81783 Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 The Golden Gate Bridge opened 4+ years after construction began. Anyone care to speculate how long it would take in today’s bureaucracy and court challenges?
Red Gauntlet , SASS 60619 Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 Three miles of 'light rail" in my city has taken at least that long.

Prop 1A passed in 2008 and they broke ground in 2015. Yet the PRoK High Speed Rail project is $95 Billion over budget and to date hasn't laid the first mile of track.
Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474 Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 Sounds like the Light Rail Transit fiasco here in Ottawa. Glad I was retired when it started and I didn't have to call the RFP or administer it!!
