Utah Bob #35998
While taking my noon repast on the porch I caught a glint in the sky. It appeared much higher than commercial airline traffic. I grabbed my binoculars and after a moment of searching found it. A B1 hauling tail toward the NE. It was going in a few seconds. ‘Merica!

Capt. James H. Callahan
Dyess AFB in nearby Abilene Tx has a bunch of 'em. They fly around here 24/7. A few times I've been lucky enough to be driving down I-20 in the dark or twilight and see one taking off with the afterburners lit off. The runway isn't far off the interstate so they are only a few hundred (?) feet up. Quite the sight. JHC

Buffalo Creek Law Dog
Back in the early 60's before I joined the RCAF, we used to see the USAF B52s flying over our place heading to Alaska, there were always two of them, don't know which Air Force Base they came from. We couldn't see the planes with the naked eye, just the vapor trails as someone said that they flew at 50 Angels, Air Force talk for 50,000 ft.
