T-grips

Forty Rod SASS 3935

Recommended Posts

Rather than screw around with Tyler of the guy who makes them out of plastic and only accepts Pay Pal I contacted my favorite gunsmith, David Fink at Gunsite Academy.  I asked if he could find me one for my Dick Special.  He said he actually made his own version for $60 and in any color I wanted.

On my way out, probably Friday morning, and I may have him restore the gun to like-new.

Fink's Custom Gunsmithing LLC

2900 Gunsite Road

Paulden, AZ 86335

Look up his website

So far I decided against the T-grip.  Just doesn't feel right.

Holster has been shipped from Germany.

Picked up three HKS speed loaders.

Have rounded up three boxes of 50 rounds each, a mixed bag of two kinds of Remington and one of Speer, plus 86 loose rounds of almost everything.

Total ammo cost is $48.00 so far, and I have enough to get going until I can find Hornady Extreme Defense loads.  Doesn't apprear to be an in this part of Arizona.  At least I can get started.

I'll get some of my guns cleaned up after sitting idle since my accident, and I have enough .38 Special, ,9mm Para, .45 acp. and 12 gauge to keep me busy.

Fun's acomin'!    Yeeeeehaaaaaw!!!

How about some more hand filling wood grips?

I might look at some of the wood ones, but they appear too bulky and that would be defeating my purpose.  I'm going for maximum concealability first and everything else after that.

That being said I now have to find a way to carry the speed loaders, too.

I have several Taurus Model 85 .38s. I don't like the rubber grips the newer ones come with, so I get the old style "banana" grips they USED to come with. I cut them off even with the bottom of the gripframe, reshape them, and they fill the hand while giving me something to hang on to.

@Forty Rod SASS 3935 Thanks for the link, but their website doesn’t show their grip adapters. At least, not that I could see.

I considered the Colt D frame service panels from Altamont for my Colt’s Detective Special just for the looks of them.

My Colt DS is not a carry gun. I got it because I have always wanted one.

This one was the duty gun of a Detective Sergeant of the Monterrey County Sheriff’s Dept in California. It’s got some honest wear and scratches on it. I decided to leave it as is.

Pat, that is exactly why I got my Dick Special...Dick Tracy had one, lots of cops had them, and I carried one off duty for the very short time I was a reserve deputy sheriff.  BUT, I'm going to carry mine.

I don't see any difference size wise  in the Altamont grips and the stock grips, but Altamont has some bonded ivories for my Colt Government .320 which is my warm weather piece, and which will soon be sporting a dressier look.  Thanks.

Also, I looked at Dave's grip adapters and they would work well for a  S&W Chief size gun, but just aren't the right fit for the Colt.
