Current Bisley Vaquero grip fit is sh**

Mustang Gregg

Recommended Posts

I got a pair of "New" K-Bisley Vaqueros with factory grip panels that are too big in the forward area.

Has anyone sanded and repolished the Ivorex?

Consider a set from Texasgrips.com. You won’t be disappointed!

Hoss, That'd be cool but it's for a new Pard on a budget.

So we'd like to fix up what he has on hand now.

He's got to buy a rifle, a scattergun and reloading gear.

Much obliged.

Howdy MG.

I've sanded on my Ruger 'ivory' grips.   I felt the same in that they were just a little big for my hands to grip.

I used 300 grit paper and 600 grit sometimes.   The 300 grit leaves some 'texture' to the feel of those grips that I prefer.

THEN... believe it or not, I use a tad of Carnuba wax to rub on and then rub off with a regular cloth.   I DID NOT try to

give them a high polish.   The Carnuba wax seem to help eliminate the slickness of the grips and give you a firmer

hold.

And if you don't like the feel after using the Carnuba, just lightly use a little 300 grip paper to rub it off.

..........Widder

Just a thought??
Have ya thought of sanding down the  frame side of the grips??

Yeah.. you’d have to keep them flat and put pressure on the area ya want thinned..

just sayin..

No, he doesn't want any thickness thinned.  They are too long lengthwise in front (below the trigger guard) and bite your fingers when fired.

No, he's new to SASS and doesn't want to spend any extra $$ on new grips, because he still has to get a rifle, shotgun, etc.
