H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619 Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 Somebody made an off hand comment in another thread that has me wondering something. Would it be possible to take a reproduction Colt Walker and bore it out to accept the 56-50 Spencer cartridge? Wouldn't be SASS Legal, but based on a quick glance at my own Walker, it looks like there might be enough room to fit. The mind boggles at possibilities.
The Aggie Rifleman, SASS#55213 Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 That sounds like an awesome idea! I'd love to have one of those 45 Walker Magnum BP conversions too that people made out of 460 Mag.
Sedalia Dave Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 I doubt that even a Walker has a cylinder big enough to accommodate the 56-50 cartridge as the rim diameter is 118 thousandths larger than the 460.
Abilene, SASS # 27489 Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 Making a 5 shot might solve some problems. Would there be enough space between the cylinder hole and the ratchet? And the barrel would have to be bored bigger and is there enough meat there?
Wallaby Damned Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 With enough $$$$ I’m sure it could be done; likely as a 5 shot option but given that the “45 BPM” option has already been done and just needs a conversion cylinder bored straight through to work, it seems like a lot of work for less results. I believe you can fit more of the holy black in a 460 case than you can the 56-50 case anyway.
