I didn't mean to infer only needy, only those more in need than this person. So how are benefits delivered? The guy with two years gets the very same benefits as the guy who did 8, 10, 20 years. Obviously the longer serving career vets also get a pension.

Don't get me started on Social Security.  Way too many who never paid in get benefits. And some who paid in get their benefits reduced because of other retirement income. My ss would be zero because of my Leo retirement.

And I never asked you to remove anyone from your website, that statement has wasn't necessary.

Why thank you, I'm sure it comes with the utmost of sincerety.

No. A retired veteran gets more benefits than a one hitch soldier. Medical care, access to PX shopping, etc.

My statement was simply to counter yours that you don’t think peacetime vets are vets. It is not my desire to engage in a pissing contest. I have my opinion and you have yours.

Good to know, thanks for the info!

I live in Florida and you can opt to have Veteran placed onto your drivers license. Wonder if any other states do this as well?

Yes. Colorado does. But as far as businesses offering discounts and such, I have heard that some do not accept the license as proof of veteran status for some reason. Not sure why. Other than a VA home loan 42 years ago, I think the only time I’ve used veteran status is to get a ski cap at the local casino on Veterans Day a couple of years ago. It’s a nice cap. The casino did not lose any money.

Thanks Dave, I will have to get a spiffy new photo and run my 214 thru the  scanner and get on this.

The older I get the luckier I consider myself for being a peace time vet.  4 years as an airborne infantryman with the finest bunch of full tilt nut jobs (self included) trained, educated, equipped to the point of best possible lethality and waiting, waiting, waiting for the word to come down was enough, but also not if you can understand that.

Yeah I too could probably qualify for a partial disability, tinnitus and high frequency hearing loss is common in combat arms troops, especially ones who spent time in high performance aircraft waiting to jump out of same.  VA rep had the paperwork for me during one meeting, didnt fill it out then but might now just to keep everything on record.
