Pulp, SASS#28319
A family member showed me his 16 gauge Model 12 last night. Made in 1924 and obviously used very hard and not well maintained. I told him I’d clean it up. I cannot get the takedown pin to rotate the magazine far enough clear the threads. Maybe 1/8 turn and it stops, I’m not gonna put any serious torque on it, not my gun and don’t wanna break anything. Any tips?
Jabez Cowboy,SASS # 50129
Spray it good with "Deep Creep", let it sit a spell. Jabez Cowboy
Jabez Cowboy,SASS # 50129
I use it all the time for stubborn parts in my stop ... And I do a lot of work on old guns some haven't seen the light of day in 70 years or more ... I often shoot a Husky Under- Lever Hammered 16 ga. made in 1884 ... Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967
It'll come apart. And remember... there's a special place in heaven for anyone who rescues a Model 12. Check out Mark Novak's "Model 12 Conservancy" here. I've known many; have but one. And yes, it is a Model 12.

Big Sage, SASS #49891 Life
You could also use a heat gun to heat the magazine tube where it screws into the receiver. Hair dryer will work, just takes longer.
