In the '80s we were using the MK9GCH Freon powered BB gun in model warships. Stan Watkims., the originator moved to Oak Ridge and I had lost track of him, from the video it seems the guns have been improved considerably Duffield
Sedalia Dave
The RC ships for the most part are using .177 steel projectiles (BBs) although some have .25 diameter projectiles to simulate torpedoes. Most of the guns are pneumatically powered and are limited in MV for safety.

They were framed with plywood and skinned with balsa. Jeff was still in Amarillo when I last heard of him, and could probably still provide plans for several American and Japanese ships. The ships were made in 144th scale because that resulted in the largest ship that could be placed in a filled bath tub to test the electronic installation rather than having to make a special trip to the lake.
