San Joaquin Shootist Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 (edited) Howdy, I am installing a new mag spring in my 73. It is extra long since my rifle is the 18 inch barrel Taylor Trapper. How much should I trim off? I heard that if I trim it so 3 inches sticks out of the mag tube that should be about right. Does that sound about right? Thanks in advance, SJS Edited January 15, 2017 by San Joaquin Shootist Quote
WOODFOX , sass#34179 Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Yep . That works for me, mine are 45 don't know if smaller caliber would make a difference or not . Woodfox Quote
Rio Brazos Kid Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Works just fine on my 357 Marlin. RBK Quote
Sedalia Dave Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 My 92 springs are 4 bullet longer than the mag tube Quote
Slick McClade Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 2 1/2 - 3" above factory mag tube will be good. Slick Quote
Cat Brules Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Be careful!! START OUT by trimming it minimum of 4" longer, then trim off a coil at the time until it's right for your rifle. Quote
