Howdy,

I reading a letter from a cousin who isn't around anymore. It's dated 1954, and not in good shape. The best I can make out about his unit is:

Co D 2Ndamphtracbn Fmf Mri 2 Camp Lejeune N C.

and another letter, date is missing, don't know if this is before or after... Casuals Cas Co H-S Bn, Mri 11 Parris Island

Can someone decode?

Thanks!

Duc

I can get pat of it - Second amphibious Tractor Battalion "fmf???) Second Marine Division.

I thought that 2mardiv was second division.

I found MRI is code for major Command Recipient Identifier. So maybe MRI ! is code for the 2nd Div.

But I am not now, nor have I ever been, a Marine. ;)
