Alpo
Do you normally target practice in your neighborhood, with more than one house per acre? An acre's not a whole lot of land. While I am not a fan of any gun laws, this one just seems to be extending the "can't shoot inside the city limits" to also cover the unincorporated areas of the town. And it looks like line 23 gets you off the hook, anyway. I would suspect that some moron(s) was out in "the woods", blasting away, and hit a house or barn or livestock, and said, "I didn't know there was anyone there", and said, "I'm outside the city limits, so it's legal", and said, "There ain't no law against this", so they passed a law. >790.15 Discharging firearm in public or on residential13 property.—14 (4) Any person who recreationally discharges a firearm15 outdoors, including target shooting, in an area that the person16 knows or reasonably should know is primarily residential in17 nature and that has a residential density of one or more18 dwelling units per acre, commits a misdemeanor of the first19 degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083. This20 subsection does not apply:21 (a) To a person lawfully defending life or property or22 performing official duties requiring the discharge of a firearm;23 ( If, under the circumstances, the discharge does not24 pose a reasonably foreseeable risk to life, safety, or property;25 or26 © To a person who accidentally discharges a firearm.<
Waimea
is anyone up on how this bill SB130 got into the network and got passed and what was the governor reason for approving it. it bassicly outlaws all shooting for practice at your home. There was a story on the news about a person of questionable intelligence plinking in his back yard in the middle of a town. Police were called. They said "no law against it". Can't remember much more than that other than thinking "This jackass is going to make it bad for everyone." "No law against it". Now there is. Alpo
I remember him. Had a backstop - maybe three, four feet wide - set up in his front yard. Like shooting at a pellet trap, in the basement, except that if he missed the "trap", it went over into the neighbor's yard.

Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172
IIRC the Beltway shooter lived in Tacoma before taking his crime wave east. He was noted on the 11 O'clock gossip time slot that he was known to "practice" in his back yard with his 5.56/.220 Bushmaster. I believe that the police were notified at the time, but nothing was to come of it. He still killed a bunch of innocent people. Never did hear what his reason was, but the folks were just as dead.
