Charlie Harley, #14153
Has anyone ever used a liquid bullet lube like Liquid Alox on a bullet that has grooves designed for conventional lube? I've used Alox before on bullets that had the "micro grooves" that are meant to trap the liquid, but was wondering about using on a conventional bullet. Any thoughts are much appreciated. Michigan Slim
It works fine. Most of my bullets are the groove type. Q&A on the Lee site says that it is fine as the lube is in good contact with the bore that way. Or something like that.

J-BAR #18287
In my experience, Liquid Alox is real easy to over use. I like to just barely be able to see the surface of the bullet turn a bit dull. If the lubed bullet looks brown, it's too much. I thin the stuff with mineral spirits before applying it, and even then I apply it sparingly. And yes I use it routinely on bullets with conventional lube grooves. I have even committed the heresy of lubing a bunch of Dick Dastardly's Big Lube Bullets with Liquid Alox for use in smokeless cartridges. Works just fine. Trailboss (Santa) Dave
I cast bullets and load ammo for 4 shooters. I have used a liquid lube from Red Rooster for years. Saves a lot of time as I don't have to size the cast bullets.
