I have had women that worked for me show up with long nails like that and tell me they can’t do anything that might damage their nails. 🤔 These women were train cleaners. They cleaned the trains every night after service hours. I assigned them mopping duties. They had mopping duty every night until “TA-DAaaa!” Their nails were short again. I had a female electro-mechanic pull that crap. I assigned here the rebuilding of a drum switch on an accident train. The drum switch is like a big junction box with 3 huge rotary switches that have about 30 layers each. All the train’s train lines signals go thought the drum switches when the trains are coupled. There are like 400 connections that need to be made in this box then they have to be triple checked for continuity then tested live. It was a shame to see that in 2 days she pretty much destroyed those nails. Such a shame.

Or a possible sinus infection. 😆

Every damn time, no matter where I live. WV, CA, OR, NC… It doesn’t matter. It will be cloudy for any celestial event.

I met a Firefighter that was the tillerman on a fire truck in Portland, OR at an Emergency Response Drill meeting. He took special training for this job and I cannot remember the details, but I did ask him one question that made him pause. “Since you are essentially steering in reverse have you ever had to pause and remind yourself what you are driving when you hop in your personal car to go home?” He laughed and said that soon after he finished training he finished training he caught himself and corrected himself just before making a right turn on a green light. He said he was in the mindset of a “tillerman” for a brief moment and not thinking about what vehicle he was in. He said it only happened once, but it was a big lesson for him.
