  2. Pards, I'm getting old and I'm looking for a certain rifle, believ it was made by uberti, replica of an old lever gun in 50-70 govt. Ive seen one here but I can't find it on Google. Can one of you fine fellows post what it is and maybe a picture. It didn't have a barrel length mag tube and had a special name maybe??? What says the rogues gallery?
  3. The old Victor snap traps, we gotta trap constantly, unfortunately, being on a farm and tons of dog food for rescue..constant battle with the dirty lil buggers
  4. Prices are so all over the place from 85-99-120bucks depending on seller, 5 bucks doesn't seem bad if ya got a decent price
  5. Wts uberti 45 Colt , very little use, no holy black yet. Sitting in my safe, cleaning out some stuff I don't shoot so I can get another project off the ground. Excellent shape as you can see by the photos. And NO I don't have the stupid cardboard box it came in, before someone asks..it sits in my safe. 525.00 shipped Conus to your FFL. 500 cash local.
  6. I agree, but we do get a decent sence of gun handling and God willing a good base on gun safety. There is a lot of different pards and pardettes here, all with experiences, that's why I like to throw a sort of opinion thread up every now and the. Yes you do get the stupid answers from a know it all or two but ypu can also get gold from folks that have been there and done that. Just gotta weed thru.
  7. Man I hope you guys get your doggone TB soon, as for unique, if we loose that, I'm gonna be hurtin
  8. Olde English gun shop here has a couple boxes of 44-40 federal I think, it's the anniversary or some special box and they want like 80 bucks each, man they know what they can do with that whole box....
  9. Mas Ayoob, the be all know all instructor has court knowledge as he is an expert in everything gun related....granted he worked part time for a police department in a town of 2500 people in New Hampshire and has never fired a shot in self defense. I can only go off my own experiences in courts and critical incidents. The only ammo question I've ever heard is why does your department issue hollowpoints...of course the chance of having to fire your weapon in self defense is extremely low, but it does happen and you need to be as prepared as you possibly can.
  10. Runs perfect out the old tisas gi
  11. Gents, due to work issues, I will be doing some part time commuting and staying in an apartment a couple days a week. I've been noodling this issue for a while and I came up with the best option, in my opinion for self defense loads. I thought 12g 4 buck? 12g frangible, 45acp frangible, but all seemed bad. So I made up some all lead 45 acp hollowpoints, 250g. Used 4.5g green dot, should be 750ish fps. Plenty enough for a night time marauder but still not a big risk of over penetration.what says the peanut gallery, as many of you have A ton more experience with the 45acp and reduced loads. I've never had to worry about over penetration on the farm but now in an apartment, I think it's a real concern.
  12. I don't think it would look that bad if you took off the stupid tac rail
  13. Try the sig 365, my mother has bad arthritis in her hands, couldn't rack most guns we tried, but she does really well with the 365, so much that it is her new gun. I,of course , ran a few hundred rounds like hst, gold dot,g2, all ran 100%. In a caliber cheap and easy to find. She hits with it.
  14. I must have missed the reasoning, why 1854? Didn't they start in 1852? Maybe my history is off, I don't remember a 54 lever rifle
  15. Safest, most reliable, durable to shoot +p.........Ruger Vaquero (old model) for the 3k budget, you could get a darn near new one, not a beat up cowboy ran pistol. But if my 1873 budget was 3K(not in a million years,lol)...it would be a real Colt.
  16. My winchester 1886, made in mirioko(spelling?) Is an extremely nice rifle and shoots like a champ with 405gers
  17. Woods walk match....sounds like fun
  18. Rifling: round groove .016 deep Not sure what that means but seems to be
  19. Pards, Looking at building a Jim Chambers rifle. Probably the Mark Silver - Virginia Rifle circa 1750-1780 Model RK-8 It's offered in 58 and 62 caliber. Are there any disadvantages to a 62 caliber ? I got a 58, kinda looking at the big boy for fun. Will cast my own of course and I like the though of the 62 hitting steels. I'm the dork shootin pale rider, walkers, and 50-70s cause I love smoke and fire! What says the rogues gallery.
