Worst Case Scenario Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 The highly sought after 1950's born Wincheater 97. This is an unmolested 97 and according to Palo Verde Gunworks it has seen "very few primer strikes" I bought this because I was hoping it was a 1953 (year my mom was born) but it has been verified 1954. I doubt anyone has a 1953 to trade in this immaculate condition but I'm willing to negotiate. Asking $1200 shipped to your FFL or hand delivered to Bordertown or EOT. Or swing my my house that I finally moved back into last week. (Long story) you may be asked to help set up my reloading equipment FYI.
SouthwestShooter Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 BEAUTIFUL gun. See you at Bordertown. Windy .....let me know if you have reloading questions.. Bit of advice , don't smoke while reloading. You're welcome.
Outlaw Gambler Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 According to "Winchester Dates of Manufacture" your serial number shows made in 1953. Here is the link showing your serial number and date of manufacture. WINCHESTER DATES OF MANUFACTURE (oldguns.net)
Squish Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Same as the NRA list. 1953 let’s see if I can post the link - page 44 https://www.nramuseum.org/media/940941/serialization-date of manufacture.pdf

Squish Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 I stand corrected! Now that I went back and read the instructions again… “end of calendar year” sorry about that Just curious - is this a 28 or 30”?
Bad Company, SASS #20195 Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Winchester website is confusing. My result there was: The year of manufacture for serial number 995598 is 1953.
Palo Verde, SASS # 56522 Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 $1,200 is a steal for that gun! If I had known you would turn around and sell it so cheap, I wouldn't have sold it to you. I don't know what might have happened to it since you got it, but that was essentially a new 97. Magnificent.

Magnificent. I didn't buy it from you. came from Ghost Rider sitting on his stoop at Legendary. You were nice enough to give me your thoughts on it when you were looking at my mess of a 1912, 97 that probably needs a new carrier. If indeed it is born in 1953 then I'll hold on to it, but I may have to call Winchester to get it straight. What do you think about the born date?
Cholla Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 A Cody letter should tell you when it shipped. https://centerofthewest.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/SerialNumberRanges2024-Winchester.pdf
