Injun Ryder, SASS #36201L Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 This movie has the most Hollywood Henry's that I have ever seen. Probably all that were available for movie use!
T.K. Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Usually @90% of the time they simply remove the forearm of a 92 Winchester and walla! Its a "Henry". One exception is "Silverado". I understand Hoss Cartright carried a 1873 with the forearm wood removed.
Alpo Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Silverado they had two. One was a Henry - well, an Uberti Henry - and one was a 66 with the forearm removed. I don't ever recall seeing Hoss with a Henry, but in either the first or second episode Adam is carrying one. And then of course we have Aline McMahon. Jimmy Stewart movie called The Man from Laramie, made back in '55. Before Uberti. Her Henry is a real Henry. It appears to be empty. I believe the follower is right up tight against the receiver. Probably because 44 Henry rimfire blanks were kind of hard to come by.
Crooked River Pete, SASS 43485 Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 I was watching "Bonanza" once and noticed in the back ground there was a rifle rack with several Hollywood Henrys in it.
Jackson Haller Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 My favorite use of a real Henry rifle has to be in CB DeMille's 1939 "Union Pacific". Joel McCrea carries a museum quality one which is best seen during the Indian attack on the train. Runner up would be 1940's "Arizona"; Jean Arthur gives William Holden a Henry toward the end of the film, if I recall correctly (and a Blakesly box for ammo; normally used for Spencers!) That film has some wonderful cap and ball revolvers also; one of the very few films of that era that tried to get guns right for the time period depicted.
