Laundry

I was reading some book about the far north one time, and someone commented that everybody stunk, and he was told that it was very hard to do laundry when it's 50 below.

But it seemed to me that if you washed the clothes inside the house where it was semi-warm, and then took them out and hung them on the line, they wouldn't drip dry because they would freeze. But if you let them hang out there 10 minutes or so, then go back outside and hit them all with a stick, that should knock the ice off of them, and then the moisture that's still on them would freeze, and you come back out and hit them again, and you do this until they're dry.

Would that work?

Having seldom been exposed to any place where they have that cold wet white stuff, I have very little experience with this. And the coldest I have ever been in was plus six.
