H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619
I am wondering about something. Which gun has the stronger action; the Remington Rolling Block or the Trapdoor Springfield? I have a line on a Rolling Block, and I am wondering about proper loads for it. Would "Trapdoor Safe" loads be okay for use in a Rolling Block, or would something lesser be needed? Thank you in advance.
Happy Jack, SASS #20451
Og the popular "falling block" actions surprisingly the rolling block is the weakest BUT it is stonger than the trapdoor action.

Poor condition, rechambering to a more powerful cartridge, rebarreling or relining, etc. A knowledgeable gunsmith's inspection would be the best advise on a particular gun. good luck, GJ
Mezcal Charlie
The rolling block is a later design and much stronger than than the trapdoor which began as a modification of muzzle loaders. It is also very accurate. The American team beat the UK team at Creedmoor for the first time using the rolling block Remington against some very high dollar European rifles.
