Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
My landlord (Marines, Iraq) went to a veterans event today. They were giving stuff away. He brought me a new winter coat and a case of non-perishable foodstuffs.

Utah Bob #35998
Was it a Stand Down or just a Vets Day thing?
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
I really don’t know the difference but it was organized for vets. He got a lot of flak because the donated foods were near their Best By dates which I think means that many folks will just throw it away. But seriously this is non perishable stuff, I am not worried about best by dates.
Utah Bob #35998
A Stand Down is an event usually put on by a local veterans organization. We do a couple a year in this area. It benefits a lot of homeless and financially strapped vets by providing food, clothes, haircuts, help with job applications, medical and dental assistance.
