Garrison Joe, SASS #60708
For some folks, no hat will fit until it's wet down. I wear a long oval general shape, but my head is lumpy at front "corners". If I don't wet fit the sweatband to those corners, bad headaches will result. Just wetting the band area lets the hat give a little at the bumps and shrink down where there's recesses. Thus, a good fitting hat where the hatter could not take the time (or have my head available) to get those spots just right. And my hats that have been fit like that will stay in in any blow that I care to try to stand up in. Wearing your hat in a downpour and keeping it on till dry will do it too, but at the possible cost of having to reshape and even "size" it a little to hold it in shape. A good beaver felt is a whole lot better at standing up to that kind of fitting technique than a wool felt is (which just kinda goes limp all over). Good luck, GJ

This is a hat body that I bought in a reject bin for $1.00. The officers's cord was $5.00 Not bad for a six dollar hat. I have $100 hats sitting on a $5 head.
