Trigger Mike Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 My barn has electricity. I noticed dirt daubers (I assume) have pt dirt in my electrical sockets. Is there a good way to get it out? Is it a fire hazard?
Alpo Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 I would throw the breaker, then put a Shop-Vac up to the outlet and suck the dirt out. If the dirt daubers have mixed it with their spit so it's hardened, bust it up with something made of wood, then vacuum it out. Shop vacs are wonderful things.
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 Depending on the degree of the damage, I’d consider replacing the outlets. You might be required to or well advised to hire a pro. and having done that use outlet blockers or child prooffers to keep the critters out

Was a volunteer firefighter for 15 years other than wet hay electrical was #2 for barn fires don't take a chance.
