Slowaz Molasses
Does anybody do a short stoke to the old Uberti 1866 rifle that won't fit the short stroke kits that are currently on the market? Any information is appreciated.
Randy Saint Eagle, SASS # 64903
I Would think anyone who does a cut and weld short stroke could do it. Boomstick Jay, Jimmy Spurs and Cody Conagher are 3 that come to mind. Randy
Irish Pat
Joe at Pioneer Gun works made mine for my 1866 saddle ring carbine old model
Goody, SASS #26190
Get with Silver Sam. I think he has modified Pioneer kits on the 3 or 4 that he has owned over the past years.
Lead Friend, SASS #53635
Jared at Longhunter installed one of his standard short stroke kits in an old Uberti 66 in .45 Colt for me (I'm not sure what he uses). I believe the frames in the older Ubertis are slightly longer than the current production rifles (not sure where I heard this and if I am wrong I am confident that I will be corrected). Consequently the stroke on my 66 ain't that short but it's slickernsnotonadoorknob.
Irish Pat
My old 66 carrier was made in Italy and the ammo they used back then regular158 grain round nose police loads. The carrier would not work with our ammo. Joe made me a new carrier tohandle our short cartridges
Garrison Joe, SASS #60708
The old frames and carriers are shorter, because those early Uberti guns were made for .38 special mil surplus ammo instead of .357 (1.600" max OAL). Good luck, GJ
