Mustang Gregg
I have a an off topic question for any .22 Anschutz rifle experts. Is the old (1980's?) Biathlon Model 1427 built on a 54 or 64 action? Much obliged, Mustang
Calvin N. Hobbes, 17218
The 1427 is built on the 54 action. Here's my custom 1427 from my Biathlon days Edited December 24, 2016 by calvin n. hobbes SASS #17218
Mustang Gregg
:FlagAm: That's what I thought, Calvin N. H. Thanks for the comeback. I was trying to get one brought on a bidding sight. It was missing, stock, mag hardware, trigger & rears sight. But it went way high and I was pricing getting a trigger assembly. and better make sure it was a 54. I want to build another "super" .22 rifle for silhouette. I used to use an Anschutz rifle for that game and it was the best! Bugler
Are you wanting to compete in NRA Heavy Rifle or Sporter division? Total weight of the rifle makes a difference....A 54 action would most likely be in Heavy rifle. I use either my 54MS Anschutz or a Remington 541T in Heavy Rifle and a Remington Model 5 or 581 for Sporter....Am AAA in both divisions. Bugler PS. You might take a serious look at a CZ 452/455.....less money than the Anschutz and is nearly as accurate. Mine will shoot nickel size 10 shot groups with Eley Black Box at 100 meters over a rest...what more do we need?
Mustang Gregg
Bugler: [subject: Anschutz 1427 Biathlon] It was a CMP auction barreled action with no stock, trigger or mag holder. I have an old H&S silhouette stock already inletted for it. But it went for $500+ at the last minute and I was concerned about finding some guts to finish it. So I quit bidding. I had one about 15 years ago and it made light weight category okay. It was probably the best .22 silhouette rifle I've ever had. I'm going to keep looking. But I'm not in a really big hurry.
