TN Mongo, SASS #61450
I'm going to use a RNFP (as recommended by Pedersoli). What OAL works best in .44-40 for this rifle?

Roger Rapid
Because of the way the Lightning feeds - with the "cartridge retaining lever" coming up as soon as the bolt opens about 3/8" to stop the subsequent cartridge - as long as you don't exceed the spec'd OAL, you can be shorter than spec'd OAL with zero feeding problems. So, if you decide to change to a smaller/lighter bullet, just go for a good crimp in the cannalure and they will feed fine. Also, I have a fully detailed 15-page disassembly manual for the Pedersoli Lightning which I'm happy to share. If you're interested, just PM me. And yes, RNFP is always a good idea for a tubular magazine. ..RR
