Noz Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 We had our first shoot today at the Ozark Posse and a question came up concerning the new open/closed lever on the rifle. Question: Does the open/closed action apply to all long guns? If so can a double shooter, under the new rules, allow his gun to close after shooting to ease re-staging on a "horse" or in a vertical condition. This would be a great help to double shooters who must spend some amount of time and concentration making sure that their gun does not close while re-staging. A closed double would become as easily restaged as a 97 under these conditions.
Yusta B. Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Yes, all long guns. (no I'm not a power that be)
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933 Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Yep, the rule refers to "long guns." 1) If the action of a long gun closes after being opened and emptied, should there be a "no call" if in fact, the firearm is empty, or a penalty if a spent case or live round is ejected? If the gun closes, the shooter will be the ONLY one totouch the gun until it is shown clear or otherwise, at the end of the stage.

Noz Posted January 19, 2014 Author Posted January 19, 2014 Thanks for the clarification. The answer is what I hoped to hear.
