Conejo Kid #51342
Any knife makers or others interested?? I have a length of board that (I believe) is Desert Ironwood - VERY HEAVY. This stuff is super hard. The board measures 4 5/8 inches X 1 3/4 inches X 56 1/4 inches long. The board weights 17.5 pounds. I will sell smaller pieces. Judging from some research, this stuff is sold by the pound (and expensive). I am willing to be very reasonable but not willing to give it away. http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq22/cdgarlock/DSCN0410.jpg http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq22/cdgarlock/DSCN0411.jpg http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq22/cdgarlock/DSCN0415.jpg Conejo. Chili Ron
Howdy, I have a little ironwood. It looks like chocolit cake, just a whole lot harder. Try to find out how long it has been dryed. If you could ever get someone to do it, it should make spectacular 1911 grips. Mine is in the hands of a woodworker now. No results yet. Conejo Kid #51342
I just added pictures to the original post. I was thinking of cutting the board into 8 inch lengths and selling each piece for $20 plus $5 shipping. Note: A piece that is 8 x 4 5/8 x 1 3/4 will fit perfectly into a small USPS "flat rate" box. Also, I am about 80% sure that this is ironwood, BUT it may be some other similar exotic wood. I acquired the wood from a buddy of mine who had this board in the back of his garage for at least 25 years. I am willing to give a 2 week return policy - IF you pay the return shipping. I am also willing to negotiate on larger pieces. Thank, Conejo
Prof. Fuller Bullspit
Looks like a nice bit of wood. Thanks for the pictures. Without being able to handle it and check the grain and such I wouldn't pay that much. Others with more experience than I may though, so back to the top for you! Grayson Taylor, #17383
I would also be interested in this or a part of it. RRR, I have some experpience making knice scales with this stuff, and you're right, if is hard. Can be worked on, but none the less "HARD." How much do you want for all of it, or are you selling "pieces." Thanks, Grayson
Ethan Cord
There are some very pretty exotic woods in Central America. I am going off memory but that does look like some of the stuff I saw in Costa Rica.
