Russ T. Sites Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 I cleaned up the rough manufacturing on my uberti cattleman. so I replaced the main spring with lees spring they wont set off winchester primmers ( 0ne out off every 15) switch back to the factory springs . is there a way to reduce the tension on the factory spring or is there a spring in between the lee and factory spring?
Redleg Reilly, SASS #46372 Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Try the Wolff springs. They sell a reduced power spring kit for the Uberti (http://www.gunsprings.com/Revolvers/COLT/SINGLE%20ACTION%20ARMY%20-%20COWBOY%20ACTIONS/cID3/mID1/dID96#401). I use them and have no problem using Winchester primers in my two Uberti's.
Colorado Coffinmaker Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 I'd suggest you also try the reduced power main paring from VTI Gunparts. Slightly stiffer than the Lee spring. You may also want to take your gun apart and de-burr it. Coffinmaker
JD Trampas, SASS # 55781 Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 I have a friend that bought some smoke wagons from Long Hunter, which he uses the Lee springs, my friend had to replace his with wolff spring, no problem at all now, he uses CCI, or do as CC said, the VTI reduced power spring, which I didn't know they had All for now JD Trampas
John Barleycorn, SASS #76982 Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Same problem, the Lee's were too light. Wolff springs did the trick.
Zigggy Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I just put Wolff springs in my Uberti Cattleman and it works great and feels much better than stock.
