Two-Bit Charlie Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 I have a new model Blawkhawk in 45 Colt that I got for hunting. I'm having a hard time reaching the hammer with the thumb of my shooting hand after I installed the Houghe rubber grip. Can I replace the Standard Blackhawk hammer with the Bisley Blackhawk hammer? Jack Houston # 35508 Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 not without changing the trigger too. try and find a Super Blackhawk hanner
Marshal TKD, Sass # 36984L Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 not without changing the trigger too. try and find a Super Blackhawk hanner I thought that you could change out just the hammer on a Ruger. Not that it would be legal for SASS.
Jack Houston # 35508 Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 A Bisley hammer requires the trigger also.
Adirondack Jack, SASS #53440 Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 The SBH hammer is the ticket. If you can't find one, go to one of the online parts sellers that says "backorder OK" and order one. They usually show up fairly soon. The difference is like night and day.
Mustang Gregg Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 You can put in a Super Blackhawk or Bisley hammer without trigger changes. I would actually go for a SBK over a Bisley in your case. He's got a Hogue grip and using it for hunting, not SASS. Check to make sure the hammer you decide on will not interfere with the backstrap relief cut, though. MG
Anvil Al #59168 Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 SBH hammer is pretty much a drop in. Bisley is not.
Two-Bit Charlie Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 Thanks for the help guys. The problem I'm having is reaching the hammer with the new grips. So is the Super Blackhawk hammer lower and easier to reach than the standard Blackhawk hammer? Two-Bit Charlie
