Pit Bull Tex Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Title say 45/70 ,ad says 45.Maybe thats the same.
Three Foot Johnson Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 They would both be called .45 cal, Tex, but the .45-70 would typically be sized to .457"-.458" while the .45 Colt would most often be .452", and could be as large as .454" for some guns.
Hellgate #3302 L Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 I said 45/70 because it is a 325gr bullet that would be a bit heavy to shoot in a 45LC. I sized and lubed them @.458".
Al OVERA, SASS#26238 Life Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Barely used 45cal mold throws 325gr flat nosed bullet. Double cavity, excellent cond. Mold only, no handles. $50 shipped. Looks like sum'tin I could use. Who made it, and is it steel or alum?? Al
Three Foot Johnson Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Title says RCBS, and that would make it an iron mould.
Hellgate #3302 L Posted September 1, 2011 Author Posted September 1, 2011 Thanks, J Bar, It is an RCBS double cavity iron mold. I use the LEE 6 cavity mold handles but they needed to be shaved (filed down thinner) a few thou to work but don't cost nearly what the RCBS handles do. Handles are not included however.

Johnny Angel Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Al, I don't know how to change the ad so I edited the description saying SOLD! Came down with the flu yesterday and hadn't got to the computer til now. Thanks for the tips to J. Angel Thanks for the lessons, If it is stil for sale I think I want it if it is for 45-70 and not 45. Thanks Johnny Angel
Hellgate #3302 L Posted September 19, 2011 Author Posted September 19, 2011 It is sold to Iron Pony pending receipt of funds that are on the way. It is for 45-70 but I suppose any .458 cal pistol could shoot it but 325grs is a pretty big slug.
