Has the world gone nuts?

'As police in Florida prepared for the funeral of two Miami-Dade County police officers gunned down in the line of duty, shots rang out Monday in St. Petersburg, on the other side of the state. Two other officers fell dead and a federal marshal was wounded. On any given day, such violence against police officers would be disturbing. But the fatalities capped a particularly violent 24 hours in the United States for the men and women in blue. Eleven police officers were shot.'

Eleven LEOs shot in 24 hours! This is just nuts.

Since the media has given the NUT in Arizona so much TV time,

other NUTz are jumpin' on the Shoot-n-b-famous bandwagon.

Ah pray for the fallen and hope all other LEO's watch yer' SIX :FlagAm:

I think Hal is on the right track. Some folks are so far down the path and they need some kind of validation for their crummy existence, that they want to do anything to get on camera. The media is all too happy to

accomodate them. ANYTHING to fill the air waves. Like it is my job man. Despicable as it is and I am, it is my job.

Prayers for the fallen. Prayers for those that stand guard. :FlagAm:

The incidents of officers shot on duty was up 20% in 2010, long before the Tucson shooting.

Most of the shootings involved career criminals. Some were nuts. Some still unsolved.

I would attribute the increase in violence against officers to several factors but not copycats of the AZ shooting.

Howdy UB - I have mentioned on another thread that the copycat syndrome may be part of what's going on . Would be interested to hear your thoughts based on what you see down there. Up here in Ontario I can tell you a big part of the problem is a result of money being removed from health care. Programs effecting assistance for MHA's has been cut back drastically and as well many institutions have shut down putting them back on the street and with no support of any kind. Just one of the "problems" I see.

I have not verified this as fact but this afternoon and retired cop that was being interviewed on local tv said the to officiers killed in St. Pete, FL to day make the 12th and 13th to die in the line of duty this year. He said sadly it may be a record year

for the number of officiers killed in the ine of duty.

Say some extra prayers for all of them. I will.

CHICAGO—Rahm Emanuel was one of Washington's most powerful men when he resigned as President Barack Obama's chief of staff to run for mayor of Chicago. Less than four months later, he leads his closest rival by 20 points and has raised nearly $12 million in campaign cash—but he can't get on the ballot in his hometown.
