How is yiour lady friend? I hope we gave her a good welcome and some ideas.. Deja, y'all gave her a very warm welcome indeed! Now, if I can just learn to read a calendar - I blew it, thinking the KRR monthly match was this coming weekend ~ turns out it was LAST Sunday, dangit! Soooo.... Ms Brimstone, Sassparilla Kid and I went sightseeing and a-visitin' folk up in the Bay Area - Helen's son and his lady friend, and a very dear old friend of mine. AND had a most innerestin' evening! Seems we were taken to dinner at a Peruvian restaurant that had excellent grub... but was on Haight Street! DAMN but that place is weird!! I went to SF State many years ago, and actually lived in a frat house a block off Haight Street. The Haight-Ashbury of the sixties didn't have anything on today's neighborhood... BUT~!!! There was a bit of a serendipitous twist to the evening! With a long wait for the restaurant, Ms Helen and I went exploring and found the coolest shop just a block away - still on Haight Street. A retro-clothing shop that specialized in Edwardian period clothes! Needless to say, we both thought of you, and figured you'd just plumb go nuts in there... This place had everything from silk hats (mens) to cowboy boots to bonnets to button shoes... Helen bought a really cool hat to wear to her first shoot next weekend that turned out was last weekend... Oh well~!
Tascosa, SASS# 24838 Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Deja, "Early to bed and early to rise makes a girl healthy, wealthy and wise". Well maybe not wealthy but ya get to see some beautiful sun sets and sun rises!!! Tascosa

Well maybe not wealthy but ya get to see some beautiful sun sets and sun rises!!! Tascosa There is nothing like a sunset or sunrise in AZ .... I lived there a long time and I grew to love the peaceful moments cooking out on my back porch that over looked the corral and barn and staring off into a pink, orange sky with a black weathervane of a cutting horse on it.. I had my horses, my dogs, my place, and my best friend by my side who needed anything more.. ?? Well since we were only pals, I guess after 15 years he did.. lol.. He found a wife darn it.. I have missed him for a long time as a friend. But I still think back on the skies in AZ.. Did you know Tascos's that the night sky in AZ is filled with a millions stars that are brighter than any sky I have ever seen? We use to take turns sitting in the horse tank.. lol.. to cool down and stare at the heavens.. I wonder if God knew how much I enjoyed his skies back then? I still do, but I dont see it like I did then out in the country sitting in a cool horse tank laughing with a friend.. lol..

Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I once stood on a cliff in Pacifica, California, to watch the sun retire into the Pacific. As ol' Sol slipped seaward, I was vaguely aware of others who'd stopped whatever they were doing to join me... When it gave it's last wink, there was a spontaneous outbreak of applause. I looked to my left and right, and there were probably more than fifty people spread over a couple hundred yards of the cliff's edge... all mesmerized by God's spectacular treat. Now, THAT was a SUNSET~!!
