Back when I was a young Marine, I used to frequent the bars in Jackson N.C., as many of us were wont to do. There a lot of bars that had.. dancing girls. Among other things, these girls acted as waitresses and took drink orders. But there was one particular bar that kept a stockpile of the Susan B. Anthony Dollar coins in stock to give back as change. At that time, a beer cost a dollar and a Quarter. So if you gave the girl a $5, $10, or $20 Dollar bill you got a handful of coins back as change. Since a SBA Dollar wasn't much bigger than a Quarter, and the lights were dim, the hope was that as the night went on, and you got drunker, you might not notice that when she asked to keep the change as a tip, she wouldn't just be getting a $.75 tip, but you might give her several SBA Dollars too. -

The movies were adapted from the series. I think it ran for 3 years. David McCallum played Ilya Kuryakin throughout the series. From IMDB: From youtube: Because of this End Credit scene, many people thought that U.N.C.L.E. was real, and tried to find out how to join it. -

I watched those when they were new. I'm also 71, and while my body objects, my mind still thinks I'm in my 20s, or maybe 30s. I'd say a major difference in Medical care. It's advanced a LOT in the last 50 years. Back then, 70 was considered old, people had to work harder to get there at the expense of their health. Plus, on the show's side, they WERE showing Bad Guys that targeted people that had problems. Today, we might call it Early Onset Alzheimer's. I know that while I might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, I see people, some not much older than I am, some even younger, that I wonder how they get around without a Keeper. A couple weeks ago, I wound up in line at the store, (I refuse to use the self checkout), behind a woman not so much older than I that seemed to have no idea how her Debit Card was supposed to work. Last week I told a woman that was having trouble with it that she was trying to insert her Driver's License into it. She wasn't as clueless as the previous woman, just not paying attention. A couple weeks ago, a guy driving a Prius nearly ran me down as I was leaving Home Depot. Not the parking lot, the store itself. He just blazed right on by. I cussed the old guy, then noticed that he didn't look much older than I do. (However I figure that since I AM an Old Guy, I can cuss one). And don't forget, for the last 20 years or so, They, (whoever THEY are), have been saying that 60 is the new 50, or 50 is the new 40, or whatever age group they are talking about at the time. I guess my point is that the type of people the Bad Guys in the show were targeting were around back then, and that was where the show was going with their stories. -
I don't mind one knife in my pocket. Personally I find a pocket clip clumsy. The others go into this pouch that lives in my other back pocket from my wallet.

As a Young Marine back in the 80s I saw that frequently. Never understood it. I still see idiots here in Tucson wearing masks, both alone in their cars AND walking alone down the streets. I have to stop myself from yelling at them "HEY, the pandemic's OVER! It's safe to take off the mask!", but I figure if they're stupid enough to still be wearing them, it wouldn't do any good. -

I understand that. MY point was that with a DA revolver, another pull of the trigger would bring a fresh round under the hammer, and 9 rounds gives one a decent chance for success. -

Why would they do this? WOULD they do this?
Sgt. C.J. Sabre, SASS #46770 replied to Alpo's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
I think that the intent might have been to not get into another war. The Confederates were hoping that if they threw in with Maximilian, he might decide that he could then start another war with the U.S. -

Which would be a good reason to carry a DA revolver. -

I've got three that are on my person any time I'm dressed for the day. First is a Victorinox Tinker. I've carried a knife like this since I was a teenager. Next is an inexpensive knife from an outfit called Doom Blade, though I've seen it without those markings on it. Single blade, about 4", spring assist. Also has a seatbelt cutter and a window breaker. In addition to the one in my pocket, I have one in all my vehicles, including my Daughter's. Finally there is a Leatherman PS 2. It's on earlier one, but it carries in my back pocket well.

If you can raise the bed an inch, this box from Amazon might do. https://www.amazon.com/TBAPFS-Aluminum-Underbody-Underbed-Organizer/dp/B0CL4HT2ZQ/ref=sr_1_36?crid=MO76320ZZDED&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.z8i91lCailntrMaVGTiMgkgxA-Ebt-9SLIHgYpILmnprE03QoQfHER3QMN5o1M7F9VrjIWNb39teD4_-RbntWuptt_RqVG33-0uu8UaBtH8-N5URdFHJs-ahi8l7Q536jbx2pE_twvzY_MKGdQyOQpd3JLRfB2itouKX3tj7gcTBAYERzwOsfe2DzCnPQ5OArf-KKH_w8uMGUsPbabz6VQkJzYC7BbLx13OmbxgWiB0TthJy9psuqL3ok6XkMOLxGia50tKfxon83UCFg_cb0UKFSl60fOqsZ3QtOsByNrI.JFoFXDPvKXSjhmcS_HSEsBnsTP3nJtcUvlGl0QUA61Y&dib_tag=se&keywords=rv%2Btool%2Bbox&qid=1748699371&sprefix=rv%2Btool%2Bbox%2Caps%2C180&sr=8-36&th=1 -

If I had to go with a .22, there are several, newer, defence loads offered by manufacturers. Federal Punch, Winchester Silvertip, Hornady Critical Defence just to name a few. And while it's not my first choice for a defence caliber, if I had to use it, I'd probably carry it in my Taurus 94. Double action, 9 shots, so a misfire might not be fatal. Same frame as my Taurus 85s, so it would conceal as well as a snubby .38. Here it is. It has a 4" barrel, shown also are my .38s, one with a 3" barrel, one with a 2" barrel for comparison. -

You're not far off there. The last few years, CDL standards have been reduced, (I won't say by who), to where CDLs will even be given to "Non Resident Aliens", many of whom CAN'T EVEN READ OR SPEAK ENGLISH. Lately, there have been several fatality accidents caused by these people. I don't know if this guy is one of them, but it appears likely. The current Administration is working on correcting this problem, and several States are passing laws requiring CDL holders to be able to read and speak English. Add to that, there are some "Companies" that are letting drivers that don't even HAVE a CDL to drive. Hopefully, that will brought under control. If you want more on this, Ike at the Youtube channel "Bonehead Truckers" is leading the charge. -

And then they're probably wrong. I'll say it again, it's not what you don't know that's a problem, it's what you know that ain't so. -
I was basing that on the fact that even in Ohio, we sang it in Elementary School. Of course, that was a long time ago.

My inability to know what my confuser is doing is raising its ugly head again. For some reason, when I go to my e-mule it will show that I have, for instance 5 messages, but will not show the top message. It will show briefly, maybe a half second, then disappear. The counter still show that I have 5 messages, but I can only see 4. Once I've read and disposed of the 4, the counter will show 1 message, but I still can't see it. The only thing I can do, is refresh the page, then get my cursor to where the message will show for the half second, and click on it just as it shows up. If I do that, I can open the message and do with it whatever I need to. I've seen this before, but I have no idea what I did to make it do this, and I have no idea what I might have done to make it stop. I'm running Windows 10, with msn hotmail. This isn't anything critical, but it is annoying. What can I do to make it stop? TIA.
