  1. Remember you guys were from Long Beach. How do you like Florida.

We like it a lot here.  We will both be retiring soon and plan to stay.  Actually, Uno grew up in Downey, off Firestone and Gallitin, not far from where your picture was taken.  His father still lives in the same house.

Our family moved to Downey in 1947. I was in the 1st graduating class at Warren High in 1959. Worked at North American Aviation. Went to USC and played football there.

Small world.  Uno's sister teaches at Warren and Uno graduated from USC.

  2. I just realized the bushing that reduces the threaded hole the dies fit in is 1 1/4 x 12 for the big 12 shotgun dies I was using. It needs to be 7/8 x 14 for regular dies. If I can't find it in the morning, I'll call RCBS tomorrow and get one. I'll PM you.

  3. Afternoon BMC,

Are you getting your fishing tackle limbered up?. ....I am. I fround a situation I want to fix . I have and old Fenwick Ferralite flyrod that really needs to be refinished as it is really dull and pretty ugly. Have you ever refinished a fiberglass or graphite rod? If so whet did you use or suggest I use.

I have had the rod for at least 50 years. I also have a Pfleuger 1495 reel I've had since 1955. I use this setup on my pond for bass, crappie & bluegill.

I don't think I can help you very much in the refinishing department. But I believe that Fenwick is still making rods. Perhaps you could get some info from them. These were top of the line rods back in the day, and still are high quality stuff. I believe it was designed originally by Don Green, who later moved on to Sage. My fly fishing club hosted

a slide show and lecture by Mr. Green, years ago. It was about fly fishing  for Atlantic Salmon in Eastern Canada. What a show.

That Pfleuger 1495 is an heirloom. I had one back in the day. Had the best braking system I have ever seen on a fly reel. Wish I still had it.

I no longer have contact with the club and all my buddies have passed on. So I am pretty much a dead end.

Let me know how it works out for you.

  6. Too bad your in California. I have a beautiful Charles Daly O/U 20 ga. ,Superior Grade. Made in Japan by Miroku. Looks just like a Browning superposed, same engraving & stock style. Asking 750.00

  7. (ran out of words) Got my heart going for a 70 year old. They are really beautiful. this is my last wilderness trip like this as I am just too damn old! See Ya.

  8. Well it really was an adventure. The 9 hours into camp was pretty tiring. I rode a really big mule, that was a great ride. I wasn't too sore the next day and used him for the next 6 days hunting and on the ride out too. It is beautiful country. Saw 9 wolves that screwed up a stalk on a nice bull and 4 grizzlies. They were really awsome (to use an overused term!), really got my old tick...
