Abilene, SASS # 27489
I mentioned in the "Shout out to Green Mountain Regulators" topic that I won this rig, and have to show it off. Before I continue, when I called Mernickle today to give them my belt size for them to make the matching belt, I found out Cliff has was injured in an equipment mishap at their range. I have no details, but please keep Cliff in your prayers. ! Mernickle Leather has been very generous to annual matches, often donating rigs and paying junior's entries. Well, for the 15th Annual Green Mountain Regulators "Regulators Revenge" match near Marble Falls, Texas, which this year was also the SASS Southwestern Territorial Black Powder Championship, he said he wanted to do something different. He made and donated this one-off set of holsters, which was paired with a brace of stainless Pietta '58's donated by Alessandro Pietta, as one of the main prizes. It was a 52 card raffle, and I won (3 of Clubs )! And I love them! Since the retaining "X" is actually part of the skirt, these holsters are essentially a Mexican Loop with a fancy loop. They don't look like all-out competition holsters, but do still have some of those features like the somewhat lowered front and somewhat lower hang on the belt. The pouch flares out just a bit at the top - I will probably bend that out a little more and keep tennis balls in them. I also need to do a little wet molding. The Remingtons are fairly loose in them for quick access. My SAA's fit but are a little snug due to the ejector housing, and my '51 conversions a little more snug than that. I think opening it up a little for the ejectors shouldn't bother the '58 fit. Honestly, I may not shoot those '58's a whole lot since I have plenty of other guns. In fact, this is my first set of Remingtons since they don't fit my smaller hands, and I'd never be able to shoot them duelist with a percussion spring, and I briefly considered selling them but keeping the leather. But I don't like to look a gift horse in the mouth. I LIKE gift horses! So the current plan is to drop some Kirsts in them and shoot two handed. I will do a youtube video when I get the belt. I may have a nickname for a gun or two, but certainly have never named any of my leather. However, this one-off rig shall henceforth be know as...(see last pic below) Thank you Cliff and Alessandro!! edit to add: I came in 4th out of 5 in Elder Statesman Frontier Cartridge. Some of those old guys are FAST. "I'd rather be lucky than good" Edited November 14 by Abilene, SASS # 27489 9

Abilene, SASS # 27489
Certainly. But I am not a masochist like some of you guys. I'll gladly pay more for the convenience of cartridges which can be loaded with black powder and give me that same feeling despite my laziness. 1

Abilene, SASS # 27489
Well, forget what I said about needing wet molding for Colt's. After just sitting for a day with single actions in them, the fit is perfect. Easy in and out with retention.
