Alpo Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 In the funny pictures thread there is a picture of some chairs made out of steam radiators. There's a x-shaped frame at the bottom, giving support to the legs. And I saw that humped coupling, so the left/right pipe could go over the up/down pipe. Cool. But is it a real thing? I did a search, and the closest I could find was this. And it is humped. But it is black pipe, not galvanized, and it has no couplings on the ends to connect to other pipe. So, any plumbers and/or pipefitters out there? Is that a real thing?
Three Foot Johnson Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 I haven't seen one in at least 30 years, but, yes, they were a real thing. I've still got one in a parts bin in the garage.
J.D. Daily Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Those are weld pipe fittings and the 180 elbow is a "return".
Cypress Sun Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 I always knew them as "saddles". Meant for crossing other conduits neatly and uniformly.
J.D. Daily Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 The 180 in the picture looks like standard radius (1.5 pipe diameters. Way too short for minimum wire bending radius.
