410 load data.

I am looking for load data for a 2 1/2 inch 410 load for a small buckaroo. Hopefully someone has data that has been checked for speed- fps Thank you Oak Creek Martin

Depends on the gun your buckaroo is using. Mine is using a 410 Stoeger Coach Gun. With Factory loads, it doesn't bother him at all. I reload my son's shells with H110 and #8 shot to mimic factory loads.  I have thought about loading it with black powder to reduce the recoil more, but I just haven't done it yet.

I saw a young cowboy shooting .444 Marlin brass loaded with about 25 grains of FFg and 7/16 ounce of shot in a plastic wad.

Worked well for him.

The stoeger 410 coach is heavy so right off the bat, it absorbs recoil from the 410s. 

 

Just a fyi, Ive honed and polished the 410 and it will chuck shells for 1 or 2 rounds then they stick. My buckaroo opens the gun, hits the butt on the table to get shells out of it. If he does that they always come out.

 

I also called up stoeger and got a youth stock for that 410 also with a good rubber pad.

I did this for several years with my boy. 

 

My stoeger wouldnt take 444marlin well as the rim is just a few thousandths under what a 410 rim is, and it would slip under one of the extractors.   I used magtech 410 brass and cut down to about 2.5".   With these you dont have to resize at all and just load by hand.

 

I think multiple fast powders will work, but I had good luck with Universal ranging from 6.5-8 grains to titrate for recoil.   I used fiber wads first but by far the best thing is a 410 shot cup from ballistic products (Stump 410 cupless wad).   Used 3/8 oz of shot, measuring both powder and shot with a lee dipper (1.6cc dipper gives 3/8oz).   Topped with a .450 overshot card and sealed with wax, just dripping in melted wax.  The wax works cleaner than any other sealant.

My stoeger also would not work with 444 Marlin brass, so I made mine out of 9.3X74R brass.  I loaded them with 10 grains of Lil' Gun and 3/8 oz of shot.  There was no recoil and took down every knock down that she hit.  They also came out of the gun really easy.

Unique or Universal work

( OK ) for me , But Lil gun , Aliant 410 or H110 Powder works best from what I have read .

I have not tride it myself.
