Dee Mak Jack, SASS #55905
Can you change a Marlin 336 with pistol grip stock to straight stock by just changing the stock and lever Edited March 26 by Dee Mak Jack, SASS #55905 Added info
Warden Callaway
You talking 1894 or 336? The hardest part would be finding a lever and getting it to work in your action. You'd have to change out the trigger plate too. Edited March 26 by Warden Callaway
watab kid
seems it would make sense to just buy another that suites your need - unless of course you just like projects to keep you busy , i had bought a mod 39 mountie with straight stock , then i found the mod 39 with the pistol grip stock , i bought it and i would not part with either i like ha ving both
the gunsmith,sass#3075
You will need a straight lower tang.
Wild Eagle
I think the short answer is no. It could probably be done but..... You would need, at least a new straight lower tang, and maybe a whole new reciever. I'm not sure if the top tang is the same on the straight stock and the pistol grip. Changing that and the lever would probably change the timing, which could most likely be fixed, but may be a PITA to do. Seems like a lot of work for very little result. If you handle a straight stock and a pistol grip stock I doubt you'll feel much difference. If you're talking about a Marlin 336, you can find them with a straight stock fairly easily. They are not as common as the pistol grip, but are available and can be found at a reasonable price. I see them in good used condition for $600 to $700 all the time.
