Bought One - WTB Lee Load All 2 - 12 Gauge Shotgun Press

Texas Maverick

Recommended Posts

I am looking for either a good used one or a new one reasonably priced 12 gauge Lee Load All 2 Shotgun press to setup for black powder loads.

Thanks

pretty reasonable on a new one

It is until they added almost $12 in shipping. I have found one on eBay for $72 with free shipping and a used one for $50 plus $6 shipping. Will end up probably going with one of them but wanted to see what the cowboys and cowgirls have first. Rather deal with one of them if possible.

Thanks

Good idea.  I use two Load-Alls, one for smokeless and one for BP.  They are also in two different cities. :)

Yeah, I have the MEC 9000E for my smokeless and it works great pumping out a lot of shells. I am still toying with shooting BP but thought I would load some just in case I got the wild hair to shoot BP in certain matches. You know that old saying choose your category wisely. LOL  What is your setup on the Load All for BP? Will be using the APP that I bought.

I use the 1 oz shot bushing for BP, and dip in 4.3cc of BP with the red wad.  Makes perfect shells. I think you are using less powder, so you would need a different wad or a spacer of some sort.

Is that less powder because it is the APP?

No, it is because you are a wimp.   just kidding.  Since APP is lighter, I think 4.3cc of APP is approximately 50gr by weight (using Capt. Baylor's chart).  I'm not sure, but thinking you are using somewhat less than that.  If I had no BP, I would be loading 4.3cc of APP, but many load less than that.

Thems fightin words ya know. LOL I think the loads WK sold me for the Revenge match were real BP. Not sure the load data. I am just looking at loading for a few matches a year and don't have a clue where to start. I did see somewhere that they were using the 4.3 cc dipper for APP and using over cards instead of wads so I guess I will be doing some trial and error until I get a good load. Might have to give you a run for your money at the Texas State Championship in FC.

Oh yeah, I forgot your shells came from WK, and I don't know what he uses.  I guess you're just a wimp with the smokeless (J/K again :D).  The 4.3 with APP, red wad, and 1 oz in a STS hull should be good starting point and crimps well on the Load-All.  If you want it lighter, I've seen quite a few loads mentioned here on the Wire, or ask Capt Baylor.

As far as picking your category wisely, I just try to avoid Sr FC if Phantom is going to be there. :P

Used to try to avoid FC if Whiskey Kid was shooting, but fortunately he switched to FCGF.  I'm still not gonna win though, because G W Ketchum or Roys Creek Dan or one of those other fast guys are gonna beat me (badly) anyway.  I'm pretty firmly entrenched in the middle of the pack.  Upper middle on a good day.  :)

p.s. If we go head-to-head at State, I'd probably put my money on you.  You've improved a lot in the last year.  But it might depend on who has a good match.

I thought you won the FC category last year at the State match in PCSS. Yeah, won't be shooting the FC Sr for sure. If Ketchum and Dan are shooting FC then I will stay in the smokeless side but then I have Reckon and Lefty Wheeler. LOL

No, checked the buckle pile and it just says "Winner" (participation award ^_^) not 1st place or Champion.  But I recalled that I actually did get 1st at the last Comancheria Days in FC, but I think W H Bell was having gun problems.  If I had shot in Sr FC, I would have come in 4th out of 7. :)  Maybe we shouldn't be discussing this on the Wire, giving other people ideas.

I've got a brand new on, still in the box for $50+ shipping.  I'm pretty sure all the little pieces (shot and powder bushings) are there , but can't be 100%.

If Texas Maverick doesn't want it, I'll take it.

I have been dipping and roll crimping my app shotgun loads. I got a roll crisper from Ballistic Products…along with a hull vice. Roll them on a drill press. Got a trimmer from ballistic too. Works well. I like the Fiocchi hulls. Trim the crimp off…am using a square load…1 oz shot dipper and equivalent 2f app  Put the powder in…nitro card and a fiber cushion wad…1 oz of shot…over shot card and roll crimp. They load nicely. Using Cheddite primers

Mudflat Mike,

go ahead and deal with him on this. I have one that I am trying to finalize now so it is ok with me for you to move forward with this opportunity.

Thanks
