Sedalia Dave
What model S&W is this. Barrel markings only say .38 S&W Spcl. All major parts have matching serial numbers. Edited September 13 by Sedalia Dave
Creeker, SASS #43022
If it has no model number designation on the interior frame (under crane) - it is a pre 1957 "Centennial" model (precursor to the model 40). Smith began model numbering in 1957 - this particular design began in 1952. In "Very good" to "Fine" condition with box and papers - I see sold examples in the $1,300 - $1,500 range. Without box and papers and putting yours in "Good" (grips, handling markings, nickel milkiness and discoloring on lower right at screw) - (and again if no model number on frame under crane) - I would estimate $600 - $800. Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
The flat cylinder latch is a sure fire sign it is an older model Centennial. Edited September 13 by Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933 1
Lone Spur Jake SASS #7728
What is the serial number? That will give an approximate time period. Only letter from S&W historical records will give exact date of manufacture. 1
