Feast of St. Nicholas of Myra

How many Sts Nicholas were there.  In Novosibirsk, Russia, there is a Shrine to St. Nick. It is very memorable because it is in in the middle of a major thoroughfare. Picture a six lane avenue, traffic moving along smoothly when suddenly every vehicle swerves right and left around a small shrine.

it was destroyed in 1930. (Communists, it’s a wonder that St Basil’s was not destroyed ). But it was rebuilt before the city’s centennial.

Quite a few, but when you see "St. Nicholas" without any other attribution it is invariably St. Nicholas of Myra.

For some reason he has become one of the most highly venerated saints of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Did you set your shoes out last night?

When our kids were small, seems like yesterday, there shoes were usually by the entry door.  They'd peel them off as soon as they got home.  Santa's elves would put gold foil chocolate coins in them if they were good.  It was our way of convincing them that Santa was watching them.  It must have stuck as now at least, our oldest son does it for his boys.  It was fun for all of us.  Good memories.
