H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619
Let's say I am shooting 49'er, a category where black powder is not required. But let's say that for some reason, on one of the stages I decide to use cartridges loaded with black powder for the fun of it. Although I am in no way worried about not meeting it under normal conditions, does the "smoke standard" apply in such cases? I recently obtained an antique gun for .32 S&W, which makes a lot less smoke than other cartridges, but would still like to try it. Note, I am NOT shooting in a black powder category. Turkey Flats Jack
If I understand it right the smoke factor is only required for BP categories. In age based categories you just have to meet the power factor regardless of the propellant.
Flying W Ramrod
If you're not in a BP category, the Smoke Standard does not apply, however, the power factor does.
