Rooster Ron Wayne Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I have found a Chiappa 1892 44 mag . With a 24" Octagon barrel. ( and NO Rossi ugly safety on top ) Its a very beautiful rifle in very good condition . As most of you know I am a 92 man . I love my 92s. But all my 92s are Rossi's . I would like a Nice 92 for myself . Not necessarily for CAS. Just to have and shoot . I know nothing of the Chiappa brand guns. This is not a cheap rifle , Its in the range of the Winchester 92s from Japan . So I am just asking for some Opinions on the Chiappa made rifles . Thank you all in advance .
Jackson Rose, SASS #45478 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I have a Chiappa 87 shotgun that is excellent quality. If their rifles are as good as their shotguns they are good guns.
Sparky Nelson Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 My Chiappa-built Puma '92 feels like it fits together better than the Rossis I've handled. I've only had it since February though so I can't say how well it stands up over time.
Tom Bullweed Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Good used Browning 92s in .357 or .44 Mag can be found for $650 and up. These are very good guns. If you like to load original wcf rounds, original 1892s can be found for under $1000 and they maintain or go up in value. I have found that original 1892s will run a bit more reliably than Rossi's.
Big Sarge Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Rossi's run great after Nate Kiowa Jones works on them. He might know something about the Chiappa.
Rooster Ron Wayne Posted August 11, 2014 Author Posted August 11, 2014 Rossi's run great after Nate Kiowa Jones works on them. He might know something about the Chiappa. I talked to Steve today. He is not a fan of the Chiappa. Steve said the Rossi is the best 92 out there . Just needs a little tuning and fit & finish . I love the Rossi's that I have . Great guns with 0 Issues . I just would like a very nice clean rifle . With fit & finish . I might just buy another Rossi and pull it all apart and slick it up and do the fit & finish my self . Steve said he can weld up and reblue the bolt for about 130.00. I just might go that way. So now I am looking for a case colored 24" octagon 44 mag . ( Like New )
