Come On Christmas Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Dog gone it I needs me nutter rifle. I think this is about the cheapest out to shoot Cody Dixon. I already have a bunch of Holy Black 45/70 loaded up. Shameless
slate mike sass#29204 Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Didn't know they made one.What price?
ORNERY OAF Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I been looking at those too, hope they are sass legal. Kinda short and light, heavy 45/70s might pack a wallop, BP shoud be nice....can you take that stupid scope rail off or is that just an option?
Doc Fill 'Em 67797 Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 It's basically a copy of a Marlin so it should be legal. Might need some smoothing but it should work.
Come On Christmas Posted August 13, 2012 Author Posted August 13, 2012 Sniper lowball price on Gunbroker is $439. Need to read Cody Dixon Rues again, but I am thinking the requirement was that it has a tubular magazine. Shameless
Capt. Augustus #6390 Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I have one in .30/30. It needed a little work, but now it does great at 200 yard targets with lead bullet loads. It is basically a Marlin, but it cannot use the one piece firing pin.
Nate Kiowa Jones #6765 Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Dog gone it I needs me nutter rifle. I think this is about the cheapest out to shoot Cody Dixon. I already have a bunch of Holy Black 45/70 loaded up. Shameless It's a real close copy of the Marlin 36/336/95 action. But as mentioned the Marlin one piece firing pin won't fit it. Out of the box they are much like the Marlin, a little stiff. But, considering Marlins recent QC problems the Rossi is probably the better deal. The one thing I don't care for is the 45-70 versions all come with a big loop lever. If you want a standard lever the 30-30 lever will work in the 45-70.
Come On Christmas Posted August 13, 2012 Author Posted August 13, 2012 Duh, I can get a 1894 30 30 carbine to shoot Cody Dixon. They cheap as dirt.
