ruger three screw-lower hammers?

Howdy,

I had a chance to try the ruger setup with the new lower hammer.

It allowed me to control the revolver better but my question:

can any of the lower hammers be put on the ruger three screw blackhawks?

This would have to be a 100 percent reversable change as this would

probably lower the value otherwise.

Thanks aheadotime.

Best

My guess would be no. There are more notches in the 3 screw hammer. You would not have the notch used for loading a three screw.

I am sure there are some experts here that can verify that.

The Super Blackhawk hammer from a three-screw Super will fit a three-screw Blackhawk. Might be waaaayyyyy hard to find , though.

Good luck , Rex :D

Yep they will work. Except the 357 frame is the Mid. size and the Super is the large. Super hammers go for around $150 each.. You can have some made as I did for my Ruger Old Armys for about $70 Ea. Don't worry about the value, because it's a shooter. The hammers would help the value.

Here are some that were made for 3 SCREW Vaqueros.

Guest Tommy Reb

I have old model, three screw Super Blackhawk hammers on both my old model, three screw 357 Blackhawks. And, of course, that change is 100% reversible. If I recall correctly, I got mine by placing a WTB ad on the Ruger Forum. Good luck.

I used the hammers off the 3 screw 22, tang was quite a bit lower and made it real easy for small hands, dropped right in. Chief

Yea, I hear ya. That is why I shoot 32 Single-Sixes when I'm shooting BP Dulist.

Just don't get called on it at major match. Pretty easy to tell when the hammer is 1/2" or so below the frame
